Our corporate board
The NHS Confederation is governed by a corporate board comprised of:
- an appointed, remunerated, independent chair
- non-executive directors appointed by our networks, Wales, Northern Ireland and the NHS Employers organisation
- NHS Confederation executive directors including the chief executive, deputy chief executive and the director of the NHS Employers organisation.
The corporate board is answerable to a board of trustees, comprised of non-executive directors of the corporate board.
Our audit and assurance and remuneration committees support the work of the trustees.
Recent changes to NHS Confederation trustees
Pat McCartan, who has been a trustee since 2005, has stood down as chair of the Northern Ireland Confederation for Health and Social Care and trustee and non-executive director of the NHS Confederation. Colm McKenna, Chair of South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust has taken up the position.
Paul Sabapathy has also stood down as the trustee representing the Primary Care Trust Network (PCTN), with John McIvor, chair of PCTN and chief executive of NHS Lincolnshire stepping into the post.
