ASN responds to the Government’s health white paper

18/10/2010
The ASN welcomes the direction of travel outlined in the White Paper, “Excellence and Equity - Liberating the NHS”,  and its emphasis on giving more independence to the providers of NHS services.

Following the publication of the coalition Government’s health white paper “Excellence and Equity - Liberating the NHS” in July, the Ambulance Service Network (ASN) has been consulting with its members both at executive and non-executive levels through a number of events to obtain their views on the proposals.

Our members’ comments have helped to shape the ASN consultation response which is supportive of the overall direction of the reforms however we also believe that the white paper proposals could be strengthened in several areas. This includes clarification on issues such as the commissioning levels for the range of services provided by ambulance trusts and on the choice points in urgent and emergency care pathways.
