The Ambulance Service Network (ASN) hosted a workshop examining partnership working between health and social care organisations to improve the quality of care for people with dementia.
Speakers included:
Professor Alistair Burns, National clinical director for dementia, Department of Health who provided policy updates on the National Dementia Strategy and developments around partnership working.
Anna Selby, operational director mental health, Milton Keynes Community Health Services who outlined the service's plan to implement a dementia pathway through collaborative working as part of its integrated mental health service.
Vicky O'Leary, clinical development manager, Great Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust who discussed the trust's recently developed strategy to improve pre hospital and urgent care for people with dementia. This includes improved awareness of dementia among its ambulance staff and collaborative working to deliver the right care referrals.
Andrew Chidgey, head of policy and public affairs, Alzheimer's Society who presented on the National Dementia Declaration which includes a commitment from signatory organisations to work in partnership to share knowledge about best practice in dementia.
