The FTN was set up in June 2004 and currently has over 200 NHS organisations in membership - including nearly all of the authorised foundation trusts and most of the NHS trusts, mental health and ambulance trusts and, more recently, community services providers preparing for foundation trust status.
The FTN is led by a board of trustees, who are chairs and chief executives elected by our members. The FTN is an incorporated charity.
The Board is under the chairmanship of the FTN chair, Peter Griffiths, who is the chair of Queen Victoria Hospital NHS FT. Sue Slipman is chief executive of the Foundation Trust Network.
Membership of the Foundation Trust Network is open to all FTs and trusts applying to become FTs who are already NHS Confederation members.
On 1 June 2011 the FTN became an independent organisation, having previously been part of the NHS Confederation.
