Iain Tulley 

 
Iain joined the NHS in 1981. He trained as a nurse in Scotland and in 1985, moved to the South West.

Ian TulleyHe completed General Management Training and a Masters degree at Bristol University.   He held a series of management posts in acute, community and mental health services, before moving into health authority management in the early 1990s.

Iain has worked across many parts of the health service in the South West, in acute, community and mental health as well as in providing and commissioning. He spent a year at the Department of Health as a policy manager.

He became Chief Executive of East Devon Primary Care Trust in 2001 following a period as Director of Planning and Performance at Wiltshire Health Authority.  During his time at East Devon, he led the PCT to a three-star rating for high performance particularly in integrating health and social services and in giving GP practices control over their budgets.

Iain joined the Devon Partnership NHS Trust in November 2004.  He, and the organisations he has led, have participated in national and international programmes in service improvement through strong clinical engagement.  Devon Partnership NHS Trust is currently an “out of hospital laboratory” for patient safety.   Iain is a Fellow in Patient Safety with the Institute of Innovation and Improvement

He holds a firm belief that performance improvement is achieved through strong and value based leadership and is involved in leadership development across the South West.
