Post-event overview
The NHS Confederation, National Mental Health Development Unit and the Faculty of Public Health jointly hosted a successful event to explore new approaches to integrated wellness services and how we work towards supporting people to live well. More than 70 senior managers, specialists and department leads participated in the event.
The co-chair, Gregor Henderson, Interim Programme Lead, NMHDU launched the NHS Confederation public mental health and well-being – the local perspective report.
Prof Sarah Stewart-Brown from the Faculty of Public Health provided the evidence for integrating mental and physical well-being, Lucy Gate from the Department of Health gave an overview of developing a health gain programme and Jude Stansfield from the North West shared the cost effectiveness evidence for developing standards for wellness services.
Case studies from Wirral, Telford and Wrekin and Northamtonpshire demonstrated that it is possible to deliver new innovative models to improve health and delegates had an opportunity to discuss what the standards for wellness services might mean for providers, commissioners and developing the workforce.
David Buck gave the Kings Fund viewpoint on wellness services within the current policy context.
