The Care Quality Commission (CQC) consulted on proposals for assessing health and adult social care commissioners and providers in 2010/11 and beyond.
The regulator set out specific proposals for assessing PCTs and local authorities as commissioners in 2010/11. It also explored the possibility of piloting new measures around joint assessment of PCT and local authority commissioning.
The CQC asked for feedback about both the general direction of its approach and the specific proposals it has made. The PCT Network was keen to ensure that any new approach to assessing PCTs should was designed to add as small an administrative burden as possible on PCT staff and should also draw from existing assessments already in place.
