NIHR CLAHRCs

CLAHRCs are collaborative partnerships between universities and surrounding NHS organisations, focused on improving patient outcomes through the conduct and application of applied health research.

Purpose

Aim

Each CLAHRC aims to improve patient outcomes across the geographic area covered by the Collaboration through three key interlinked functions:

  1. conducting high quality applied health research;
  2. implementing the findings from research in clinical practice; and
  3. increasing the capacity of NHS organisations to engage with and apply research.

The role of the SDO Network

The SDO Network has been supporting the nine CLAHRCs since their inception to identify common implementation themes and issues and to work more effectively across their geographic and organisational boundaries.

We are also supporting the CLAHRCs in disseminating their experience and evidence beyond the collaborations to the wider NHS.
