Management Fellows Scheme

The NIHR SDO Management Fellows scheme is an initiative that enables practising managers to get directly involved in one of the SDO-funded research projects.

NIHR SDO Management Fellows

Management fellows assist with the various stages of the project (e.g. from design through to fieldwork, data analysis and reporting) and act as a ‘knowledge broker’ between the research team and the local NHS.

For details of current  projects and how the management fellows are contributing to them, please see the management fellows page on the NIHR SDO programme website.

Directly involving management fellows in these research projects is intended to:

  1. enhance the research projects - improving the quality and relevance of the research through greater managerial involvement;
  2. develop the capacity of the management fellows and the local management communities to access, appraise and use research evidence;
  3. encourage closer links between researchers and managers.

An external formative evaluation is currently underway. See the list of current Management Fellows on the NIHR SDO programme website.
