High quality care for all: one year on

30/06/2009
The Department of Health has released a progress report one year on from Lord Ara Darzi’s NHS Next Stage Review.
Lord Ara Darzi

Lord Ara Darzi's report, High Quality Care for All: Our Journey So Far, highlights achievements so far and outlines plans to drive up the quality agenda even further and free up clinicians' time to do this.

Among the suggestions are a peer reviewed accreditation scheme recognising the best clinical teams in the NHS, an extension of service line reporting and  removing some targets including the 13 week outpatient target and 26 week inpatient target.

The report says the focus on quality has moved up the agenda for staff and organisations, supported by the promotion of innovation through the introduction of tools and funds such as NHS Evidence, the Innovation Fund and the Challenge Prizes.

The report can be downloaded from the Department of Health website.
