| Earlier in his career, David worked for 10 years as director of corporate affairs at RAC Motoring Services Ltd. where he was responsible for representing the views of millions of motorists to government and for leading policy work on safety and environmental issues in addition to mainstream board level commercial responsibilities in the £500million business. Subsequently, he was chief executive of the Engineering and Technology Board. After leaving Oxford David initially joined the Home Civil Service, working in the Departments of the Environment and Transport where his major roles included leading work to change public attitudes on drinking and driving in the late 1980s and managing deregulation of the state dominated European Aviation industry. |
