On 2 February 2011 the Government published 'No health without mental health', its cross-government, all-age strategy for mental health in England.
The Mental Health Network (MHN), on behalf of its members, has been heavily involved in the development of the strategy. We welcome the vision it sets out to improve outcomes for mental health service users and to promote positive mental health and wellbeing amongst the whole population. However, the strategy has been published at a time of unprecedented structural change and great financial pressure.
Delivering the improvements the strategy sets out will be a key test of the Government’s wider reform programme. This Briefing summarises the strategy’s six objectives and describes how progress will be measured. It also outlines further work to support implementation, which will be taken forward over the next year and beyond.
