Vanessa Young, Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation said:

“Demand has never been higher for NHS and social care staff across Wales. Day after day, month after month NHS staff are working round the clock to put patients first, striving to meet targets and to deliver the best possible care.

“This month’s statistics show some positive results moving in the right direction, including target for non-urgent cancer performance being met for the first time since May 2016 and the ambulance target being met again for May 2017.

“However, referral to treatment times and diagnostics waiting times rose in the last month and our members remain focused on the need to improve scheduled and unscheduled care targets, ensuring patients and users of our services are put first.”
