Her Majesty The Queen

A statement from the chair and chief executive of the NHS Confederation on the death of Her Majesty The Queen
Victor Adebowale CBE, Matthew Taylor

8 September 2022

Our deepest condolences go out to the Royal Family and to the nation following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

As our longest reigning monarch, The Queen has been a constant presence and source of stability for much of the population, including supporting the NHS for the majority of its 74 years.

Last year, health leaders were honoured that Her Majesty The Queen awarded the George Cross to the National Health Services of the United Kingdom, praising the courage, compassion and dedication of its staff and how they have demonstrated the highest standards of public service.

As she did in life, The Queen’s death will leave a lasting impression on the country.

Throughout the official period of mourning and indeed beyond it, the NHS will continue to be there for everyone who needs it.
