The NHS Confederation strongly condemns the racist violence that has taken place in the country in recent days. The rioting continues to cause significant concern among our members about the impact it is having on their staff and local communities and we share their concerns for the safety of local communities, including the NHS’ diverse workforce.

In a written statement, the NHS Confederation said:

“As an organisation with clear values that champion equality, diversity and inclusion, we are horrified by the level of violence, racism and destruction we have seen over the last few days in various parts of the country, and the huge impact this is having on many people.

“We know our members have significant concerns about the impact on their communities and their staff and a real sense of concern for their safety.

“As an organisation, the NHS Confederation is on its own journey towards improving our own actions in this space, and we stand in solidarity with you all whilst we look at what specific actions and support we can offer.”
