We welcome Audit Wales' report on the Test Trace Protect programme in Wales

Responding to Audit Wales’ report “Test, Trace, Protect in Wales: an Overview of Progress to Date”, Darren Hughes, Director of the Welsh NHS Confederation said:

“We welcome Audit Wales’ report on the progress of the Test, Trace, Protect (TTP) programme in Wales, acknowledging the vital role it has played in the response to the Coronavirus pandemic by limiting the onward transmission of Covid-19 in our communities.

“The hard work of NHS organisations, Local Authorities and other partners has been a shining example of what partnership working across organisations and sectors can achieve. There’s important learning to be captured so the needs of the people of Wales can be better met as health and care services develop and improve in the future.

“It’s positive to see improvements in the test and trace turnaround times, and we encourage members of the public to continue to come forward to be tested, to help break the chain of transmission of Coronavirus in our communities.

“With last week’s announcement of the additional funding to enable the contact tracing programme in Wales to continue for a further six months and evolve for future needs, the Test, Trace, Protect programme remains a key part of the picture in our response to the pandemic going forward.”
