Danny Mortimer
Danny is the deputy chief executive of the NHS Confederation and chief executive of NHS Employers, a part of NHS Confederation. He has been chief executive of NHS Employers since November 2014. NHS Employers is the voice of employers across the English NHS, and leads work relating to workforce policy and practice on behalf of the NHS and DHSC.
Danny has worked in the NHS since 1989, first as a porter in an acute hospital and then as a CSV care assistant for clients with learning disabilities. He became a management trainee in Stoke-on-Trent in 1993, and continued his work in the NHS in Bath and Brighton. He took up up his first director post in West Sussex in 2001, and then worked in executive roles in hospitals in Hertfordshire and Nottingham before joining NHS Employers.
Danny is an employer member of the ACAS Council and founded the Cavendish Coalition of social care and health organisations, which he continues to Chair. He was made a Chartered Companion of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 2019.
