Dr Sunaina Khanna

GP Partner, Solihull Healthcare Partnership and Medical Director for Integration, Birmingham and Solihull ICS

Dr Sunaina Khanna graduated from Kings College London, initially completing an MRCPCH before becoming a General Practitioner. Her first practice partnership was in Oxford where she also took on the role as PCN clinical director, before relocating with her family to Solihull again taking on a partnership and PCN clinical director position. She is currently a GP Partner in Solihull Healthcare Partnership, an at scale practice serving a population of 57,000.

Sunaina was appointed to key leadership roles within the system including Locality Chair, ICB Partner member as well as to a national advisory position with the NHS Confederation not long after the primary care network was formed.

More recently, in December 2022, Sunaina took on a role as Medical Director for Integration to Birmingham and Solihull’s newly formed ‘General Practice GP Provider Support Unit’. The unit works with, and on behalf of, General practice to support sustainability of the sector, drive improvement and promote standardisation.  It also works as a key partner within the 'Community Care Collaborative' where most of Sunaina's portfolio of work sits.

Sunaina has been pivotal in progressing integration and neighbourhood and locality health across Birmingham and Solihull. This began with initiating locality hubs during the pandemic and evolving the concept across the geography ever since to be an offer to our citizens with both a responsive and proactive focus. As part of her medical director role, Sunaina is clinical lead within the Birmingham and Solihull collaborative team who are driving the development of a neighbourhood and locality (Place) health service model; the system’s vehicle for creating integrated teams who work together to serve the local population and enabling a shift from hospital to community focussed care.
