Hamid Motraghi MBE
Hamid is the Director for Health Equity and Inclusion for the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board ICB, (the largest by population and land mass in England ) having joined the people directorate on the 1st December 2022.
His first NHS role was as Deputy Director of the WRES (Workforce Race Equality Standard) team within NHS England, having joined the NHS in 2022
He has worked in the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion space for over 10 years, during his 18-year tenure in the Civil Service, where he worked in various Government Department. Hamid spent time as the elected, Chair of the Race Network within the Home Office for four years and was the Cross Government Race Network elected chair for two years.
His particular focus is on the intersectionality’s of inequality, the development of high-potential programmes, including sponsorship and coaching and developing staff network chairs to support their members.
During his time, he has worked closely with colleagues at all grades in the Civil Service to improve staff relations and outcomes for underrepresented groups, including Permanent Secretaries, Secretaries of State, and Ministers.
Hamid is a strong advocate of a continuous improvement, data-led approach, and enjoys working with colleagues at all levels, to make evidence-based decisions and co-creating sustainable outcomes for our workforce and the public.
He is a Fellow of both; the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and firmly believes in the professionalisation of EDI practitioners.
Hamid was appointed MBE, For services to Diversity and to Inclusion, in the Queens New Year Honours 2020.
