Kumbi has held various community roles, focusing on early prevention and improving patient experiences. In 2016, she established the Young People's Sexual Health Service, earning recognition from the NHS Parliamentary Awards and the CQC for addressing healthcare inequalities in Birmingham.

In 2021, Kumbi became the first chief of Nursing Fellow at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, enhancing her expertise in digital health and health inequalities. She has developed training programmes to educate healthcare providers on wound care in diverse skin tones, fostering a more inclusive healthcare environment.
