Professor Scarlett McNally
Professor Scarlett McNally is a consultant orthopaedic Surgeon at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, President of the Medical Women's Federation, deputy director of the Centre for Perioperative Care and Honorary Clinical Professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
She is the current President of the Medical Women’s Federation (still stunned by how different the experience is for women) and previously an elected Council member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2011-2021, the ninth woman ever). Scarlett has an MA in Clinical Education, an MBA in Health Service Management and is a BMJ columnist, access her free articles here.
She has been on 4 BMA committees and 5 Academy of Medical Royal Colleges’ committees and was lead author for the Academy’s Exercise the miracle cure. She has published on careers, diversity, bullying, sustainability, perioperative care and exercise as the answer to the economy and everything. She wants each person to achieve their best, and environments/expectations that enable exercise to reduce ill-health and the need for social care. Frequently described as an “inspirational” speaker.
