Steph Capewell
Steph is the founder and chief executive of Love, Amelia, a charity established in 2018 following the loss of her daughter, Amelia.
With a mission to ensure every child has the best start in life, Steph created Love, Amelia to address the gaps in support for families experiencing poverty and hardship. During Amelia’s short life, Steph met a young mother who had given birth with no belongings for her newborn. Struck by the limited resources available to families in need, even within hospital settings, Steph was inspired to act.
A qualified social worker, Steph understood the critical role that early support plays in a child’s development and future opportunities. She began by donating some of Amelia’s belongings to this mother - an act of compassion that soon grew into a larger vision. In 2019, Steph formally launched Love, Amelia, guided by Amelia’s legacy and the needs of the community.
Under her leadership, Love, Amelia has become a vital lifeline for thousands of families across the North East, supporting over 19,000 children and distributing more than £2 million in essential items and equipment. The charity’s work reflects Steph’s belief that every child deserves equal opportunities, and that meaningful, practical and compassionate support can have a profound impact and transform lives. Love, Amelia is dedicated to creating lasting change, ensuring that even in times of hardship, families and children have the resources they need to thrive.
