The future of general practice: evidence to the House of Commons Health and Social Care Select Committee inquiry
General practice has been experiencing a surge in demand for appointments, which it does not have the capacity to meet due to a lack of workforce and poor infrastructure. Simultaneously, general practice’s workload has increased in size and complexity as well as supporting patients on waiting lists as a result of the pandemic.
This evidence sets out the challenges faced in primary care, and how these can be overcome, for the Health and Social Care Select Committee inquiry on the future of general practice.
