NHS Confederation responds to the latest GP appointment figures
Responding to the latest Appointments in General Practice data, Ruth Rankine, director of primary care at the NHS Confederation, said:
“This data shows that primary care teams continue to work flat out to address increasing and more complex demand, seeing 17% more patients in March than the previous month and back to pre-pandemic levels of activity.
“Of those, a clear majority of patients – 63 per cent – were seen face-to-face or at home, another monthly increase and 44 per cent of appointments took place on the day they were booked.
“It is testament to the perpetual hard work of all those working in primary care that more people’s needs are being met, including patients being supported as they wait for care from other parts of the NHS.”
