NHS Employers responds to the BMJ Commission’s latest Future of the NHS report with workforce focus
Responding to the latest report focusing on workforce by the BMJ Commission on the Future of the NHS Danny Mortimer, chief executive of NHS Employers and deputy chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said:
“This report is a timely reminder that the health service needs more investment in clinicians and managers, together with access to technology, in order to deliver properly modernised working environments and services.
“The NHS accepts though that expansion of the workforce cannot happen without addressing workplace cultures. The recent NHS Staff Survey evidences the progress that is being made in many domains, but it also reminds health service organisations and the government that ethnic minority staff and women still face racism and sexual misconduct from their colleagues and the public. We all share a responsibility to address these issues.”
