The independent review of the Mental Health Act, led by Professor Sir Simon Wessely, has concluded its work with the publication of a final report setting out over 150 recommendations on how to improve care for people experiencing a mental health crisis.
As part of these recommendations, the report calls for service users to be given a greater say in their care, for improved interface with the criminal justice system and increased respect and understanding for individuals’ cultural and religious beliefs.
