An overview of NHS and local government funding for work, health and skills

We estimate that 145,000 people a year leave work due to their health condition. Work is generally good for health, the wider economy and public services, yet 2.8 million people are currently economically inactive due to long-term sickness (not in work and not looking for work).
This means that millions of people are not able to reap the physical and mental benefits of employment.
A whole-system approach is needed to prevent people falling out of work and to address the root causes of economic inactivity.
These slides provide an overview of the key government work, health and skills funding available to the NHS and local government to support local areas to integrate and build on existing work, health and skills support. Future funding will be agreed through the government Spending Review process.
