On 10 December 2024, Health Minister, Mike Nesbitt, published his three year plan for health and social care in Northern Ireland. This plan sets out a series of ambitious measures aimed at driving progress within the system under three central ‘pillars’, Stabilisation, Reform, and Delivery. For example, the plan commits to 46,000 additional outpatient assessments, investment in multiple-disciplinary teams in general practice, an obesity strategic framework, and investment in adult social care - albeit some of this progress is dependent on additional funding.

In this session, Jim Wilkinson, Deputy Secretary, Healthcare Policy Group, DoH, will set out an overview of the strategic plan and we hear reactions from a few of our leading members. Following this, there will be ample time to discuss with colleagues and partners our priorities going forward and enablers to support change.

This session is being held as part of NICON's 'Grasping the Nettle' webinar series, which will run throughout 2025. The series will aim to build on the momentum and theme of the NICON24 conference, held in October 2024, during which we explored what nettles need to be grasped to drive progress within the health and social care system in NI.
